Default Special thanks too the following for help with Front End Swap

Well its finally done (well for the most part). Swapped my 2001 fxd front end for a 06-07 fxdb front end. Now I'd like to thank the many members that I have tortured along the way.

I hope I don't forget anyone: Marksbob, Thomaskray, Mud, Heldvr, Jmpancost, JRK5892, WS6Formula, and UltraBob for their patience in answering my multiple questions.

And for supplying some great parts Gwjvw, Devils Haircut, Smiley, Hackenfort and OhioSkully.

Thanks again folks - you are why this forum is a huge success internationally.

Just got back from a nice 60 mile test ride. The new front end feels great. Next step is get this dunlop off and get my metz 880 back up front.

Thanks again guys. George

What was the point of the swap, if you don't mind me asking?

My original forks needed an overhaul. So I looked into replacing them (I was on the look out for an fxdx set-up). But they are few and far between. I really like the look of the 49mm forks and it turned out not to be that expensive to do the swap. If I would have grabbed an fxdx front end in bolt on condition early on, I probably would have went that route.

In the end I'm happy with the ride and the look. Now I want to look into upgrading the guts of them.

Nice looking fxdx - How many miles on yours?

That makes sense and I know what you mean. It's hard to find Any kind of FXDX parts. It's a good looking front end. Glad it worked out for you.

Oh, and about 2k on a fresh motor, and about 84k on the frame. lol I bought this bike USED.
