Question Going from stock mini apes with internal wiring to bars without internal wiring

How difficult or easy is it? I think i'm buying a set of upper triples for my bike and i'm looking at putting a set of either Road 6 bars or Nash bars on it .. neither of which i think are internally wired.

Anyways my question is .. once i take the mini apes off and pull the wiring out .. where does it go if the new bars aren't drilled for wiring? what do you do normally?

also are stock harley controls 1"?? i know the bars measure 1" diameter .. and what's the biggest i can go with 2" risers on regular triples without needing new cables? 12" or 14"

the stock bars are 1" in diameter......the consensus on height without repclacing cables/extending the wiring on a SB seems to be about 13 - 14" total rise; so a 12" bar on 2" risers should be fine.

You can always run the wiring internal on those new bars too if you want....might have to drill a couple of holes but it can be done. If you don't want the hassle all you do is run the wiring along the bars and zip tie em to the bars to keep em tidy.....pretty much what they did up till 2008 on the SBs.........

honestly the way that i am running mine... if you get another set of handlebar controls with wires, yoiu can pre wire the new bars, then just go to HD and get a new plug, then when you want to swap bars, you lift the tank, unplug them, unbolt it all and put on the new bars... can be done in about an hour... that way you can swap from bar to bar!
