Default Diagnostic Trouble Codes for 1998 FXDWG

New here and looking for how to get DTC's for my 1998 Wideglide. I get a loud click when I hit the start button and everything goes dead. Have to put a 10mm wrench on the positive terminal of the battery and wiggle it to get the instrument cluster to light back up and when I try to start - same thing. Checked voltage and 12+ then cleaned the leads. Even wiggled the starter solenoid nut to insure good connection. Thinking it's the starter solenoid but far from a mechanic. Since the weather is perfect right now here in Maine, I'd rather fix myself rather than lose it for a couple of weeks. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance,
Jon

Have you checked your grounds? Especially the one under the seat. Take it off and rough it up with sand paper and reconnect it.

Have you disconnected your positive from the battery and cleaned it?

Default Bad ground

That was it guys - thanks. Cleaned everything, even tested the resistance of the cables. Forgot about the jumper ground - the end that connects to the battery buried under the frame. It was loose. Took me an hour tonight to figure that out...hehe.
Happy sled and driver once again.
Thanks all for your replies,
Jon

Glad you got it Jon. Any time you have an electrical problem always check all your grounds first. On mine, most of time it is a ground problem.
