Default Stripped a hex nut. Now what??

Trying to replace the upper belt cover with a chrome one. The front hex nut got stripped trying to take it off. Now. nothing works.

How can I get it out?

Interestingly enough, this nut actually looks more like a rivet. There is nothing on the back side of the bolt. The rear bolt holding the cover on has both a nut and bolt. But the front only has the hex rivet. What gives?

On my StreetBob the front nut is attached to a torx bolt. But my ride came with a chrome belt cover so I'm not sure if the same hardware was used.
If yours has the torx bolt get the right size driver and use vise grips on the nut, then it should come off.

It will be a torx bolt not a hex. You need the appropriate head to undo it.

I did the same thing dude...and mine was a hex as well. I was told I'd have to drill..so while it was in the shop for the 1000 mile service, I had them do it. I'm not the best person to be playing with a drill...especially around my harley.

A Hex / allen wrench fit in perfectly. Up until I twisted the crap out of it, and it stripped.

There doesn't appear to be a nut /bolt combination. There's nothing on the back side to grab.

sws1,

You can find several types of easy to use bolt-outs at sears. If you are fairly handy you could grab one of them for less than 30 minutes of labor from the dealer and then you will have a tool for the next one that strips out.

if you use a rathen and actual socket it should work. I had the same problem with my derby cover. I was trying to use a torx wrench. You have to use an actual socket. It should come off then. The torx bolts are pretty tough to strip.

There is no place to use a ratchet. There is no NUT. Only the place where I could use a torx or hex wrench.

Take a 6 point torx head (best to use one fixed to socket fitting), metric if you have to just slightly bigger then the hex was, line up the points in the corners and tap it in with a hammer(use extension on torx socket when tapping). Drive it in as far as you can, should turn off now!
A little heat on it first will loosen up any loc-tite.
