Yet another handlebar question on 09 FXDL
HI, everyone;
I've now got about 200 miles on my new toy and I'm not happy with the stock
handlebars. I think the stock bars are what's called "beach bars" because they
come back at a steady angle? Someone else referred to them as like a on a
wheelbarrow. If so that's where my problem is.
The grip position on my stock bars causes me to bend my wrist too much and
I'm getting some tingling that I'm afraid may become numbness on a long ride.
The reach is OK although it could e a little closer, but it's the angle that I
don't like.
Are there any bars that are about the same height and "reach" , but have the
grips bent out a bit so that they don't require as much wrist flex?
Thanks for any thoughts..

I'm 5'8" and the lowrider bars fit me perfect. When I was checking out bikes at the dealer, I also couldn't stand the stock superglide bars.
The LR bars were just one of several things that pulled me towards it.
As much as I like them, I've been considering changing to drags, just for something different.
As for more reach, HD has some 6" pullback risers made for the dyna's that might fit the bill... that is if the FXD doesn't have any pullback.

Thanks for the info.
The stock bars are 30" wide so width isn't an issue, it's the wheelbarrow-like angle
of the grips. They are just too fore-and-aft rather than being flaired outward a bit
to more naturally match a wrist. The Sportster Custom's grip angle was just fine
and I did not have any real wrist problems.
The bars do not adjust backward...
The stock pullback is over 9 inches with an almost 6 inch rise.
I wouldn't mid if they came back a bit further, but basically the position is OK,
it's the grip angle that is the problem.

Actually, it's surprisingly difficult as many of the bars have basically the same grip
angle as the ones I have and I'm not going to install drag bars that bend me over
the tank.
There are probably dozens of solutions, I just have to find them.
