Default '09 SB Rear Fender on an '07

Ok, so I got an '09 rear fender for a steal...and I pulled my '07 fender off. While looking at the '09 tail light, it has a funky little connector with three prongs and no circuit board. So, can anyone help me figure out the wiring for the '09 rear tail light? I have been scouring the forum looking for anything and I can't find it. Oh yeah, and do I need to keep the circuit board from my old tail light?

Thanks

You may just need the harness that runs from under the seat to the tail light from the 09. Only a guess but I bet the connector under the seat is the same.

Ok, then I'm calling out to all my '09 brothers that have the part manual. Can someone look up this part number for me?

Anyone? I'm at a standstill on this one and I don't want to have to deal with the stealer anymore than I have to.

Ok, so i pulled the wire out form under the seat. It's a 6 pin plug that runs back to the tail light circuit board and then branches out to the turn signals and the brake bulb. That's on the '07. Anyone with an '09 know what the plug looks like from under the seat and where the turn signals get their signal from (under seat or housing).
Thanks....just trying to get my baby back running again.

Default Keep us posted!

I've been thinking about doing this conversion myself. I have an '06 and I believe the fender is the same on the '06 as the '07. Is the '09 rear fender a direct bolt on other than the wiring issue you are having, or does it require any modifications? Please keep us updated on your project. Thanks!

The fender bolts directly on. Once I get done figuring out this wiring "problem"...(Tweaking is helping tons)...I'll post a how-to for everyone. I just got a steal of a deal on the rear fender and light and I jumped in too fast...not thinking about the wiring portion. Believe me...I'm thinking about it now that the *** end of the bike is ripped apart.

Thanks tweakin for the help.

It will NEVER work - but being the nice guy that I am, I will take the fender off your hands so you can break even...

AFHuey,

Keep us up to date. I have an 07 Bob and absolutely fell in love with the 09 rear fender. I bought one and the "limp d!cK" tail light and was going to wait till this winter to make the change. Never even thought about the tail light hook-up, assumed it would be the same.

What did you do about the strut covers? Went without or powdercoated or chromed the old ones?
