Scared of Dyno tune after AIM article
I haven't been to worried about spending the cash for my dyno tune on my Bob until I read an article in this month's American Iron about shady tuners and ways to fraud the customer. The article said a tuner needs to do several (3-5) baseline runs to establish a true base since hp can increase as the engine warms up. The first cold run always produces the lowest power so if they use that as the base then it will make any parts you've added look better than they really are. It talks about ways to artificially increase numbers using software and so forth. A good read for anyone interested. They didn't talk about PCIII's or SERT's but they did mention dynojet units and computer software so BEware.

Interesting.
My mechanic here has a dyno and will be doing the tune next week when the injectors arrive. I'm getting the PC3 put on at that point too.
I'm going to go along to watch and I'll be taking the video camera along also. Will post some highlights in the HD movies forum.

Mine is in the shop getting done now. I also read the article and it pretty much tells it like it is. The place where I have my bike was referred by a dude thats been around the block a few times. When I dropped it off we had an hour sit down and I said what I was not happy with and he laid out the procedures that he will follow. Starts with a total inspection of the bike and then repairs if necessary. Once thats done it gets two baseline pulls and the adjustments start from there. He also takes it out for road tests to get a real feel. We'll see how it goes.
I'll let you guys know how it turns out.
