That's it! Kickstand Lodge. Check it out next time your up there.

There was a blurb in HOG about him eventually moving it to Gatlinburg. Here's the email reply he sent me awhile back:

Hi Tony,

Make sure your helmet has the DOT sticker on it. My buddy just got hit a couple days ago with a $180 ticket for not having a DOT approved helmet. I guess the officer told him a couple people just died recently and dind't have DOT approved helmets so they are really cracking down now.

yeah, that's pretty cool, but I realized that aside from the pegs, scraping hard stuff (V&H pipes/outer primary), that it costs a lot of money to replace them, so now I am a little less aggressive and slow down a bit after the pegs begin to scrape.

Makes for a great photo though!

I've been thinking about a few days and thought I might mention it.

You know while I was at the dragon, someone got killed. His friends, whom I met because they all stayed at the same campground as me and Sniper77 said he was hotroddin a bit as they have video of him ~10min prior to his wreck.

I learned first hand even before getting to the dragon to stay alert, watch your speed and for god sakes please do not target fixate. I almost went off the road myself. I came into a turn too hot and fixated on a spot off into a ditch. Of course that's where you're going to end up.

I tapped the front brake a few times, regained control and well...crapped myself.

I'm not afraid to mention that upon arriving at the dragon for my first run, I was scared because of what had possibly just occured. I sat for 45min just looking at that road and wondering if I was capable. Sniper was cool about it. I finally stood up and said 'let's go have some fun."

I had the option based on the time of day it was to be able to start off slow and work up until I was scrapin and lovin life.

Please, if you go, enjoy it for what it is and be careful.

I also almost got taken out by two bikes....one had crossed the double yellow into my lane on a curve and the other was an old man making a left in front of me turning into a rest area on the cherohala skyway.

I had a blast and would go back in a heartbeat.

Just be careful

I've ridden the Million Dollar Highway (Route 550) in CO. Has anyone ridden both the Dragon and the Million Dollar? If so how do they compare?

BTW, Million Dollar has elevations over 10,000 feet and no guard rails.

10,000 feet and no guardrails? I might have to invest in a pair of Depends for that because I foresee a dirty pair of jeans by rides end. I will say while riding the Cherohala and some of the overlooks kind of freaked me out a bit. Knowing if I went down and slid that I might as well learn to fly...

By the way....134hp?!? I have a feeling your bike gets out of it's own way.
