The road is not that bad, the issue is people continue to ride beyond their skill level. If you ride your ride and don't overextend yourself the Dragon is an easy and beautiful ride.

Not trying to sound condescending but,if you havnt ridden anywhere other than the 'flatlands',you need to be extremely careful on the Dragon....several curves there will sneak up on ya real quick...ridden it 100+ times but I live an hour away...have fun and be careful...

Thanks a bunch for the great responses guys. I can't wait to do this. I have watched many videos and seen the good the bad and the ugly.
I am a 48 year old airline pilot, so risk taking is not in my nature. I want to be able to ride my scoot back to Orlando! LOL

I'm not sure how you plan to get there, but U.S. 441 north out of Ocala up into Georgia is a great ride. Follow the 441/129 path through Athens, then 129 into Cleveland, GA. U.S> 129 through north Georgia is an excellent ride and starts prepping for the Dragon. I've ridden to the Dragon twice from Orlando. 441 is definitely my favorite and will do it again the next time. The "Tail" is good, but you can hardly go wrong on ANY of the surrounding roads in that Cherohala, Cherokee, and Blue Ridge Parkway area.

The best place to stay is a free place ,in which I have (in Franklin NC ) for as long as I want to use it .Well with that being said ,I have only one more thing to say,GO TARHEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed my last run through Deals Gap. I didn't particularly care for my previous visits. As stated here before - go on a weekday when there's less idiots out to prove something.

I'm here now. Got here Yesterday. Having a blast. My pics suck as far as trying to catch me or my bud riding through a curve. I did scrape my thunderheader and my floorboards It's plenty fun. I definitely suggest the hellbender 28. Curves are not as tight which I think makes them just a little more fun. Im definitely going back to the dragon today.

A guy staying at the same campsite we are lost his dad yesterday on the dragon. Apparently he failed to navigate a turn and ran into the mountain. He was riding an FLHT with an S&S 113" w/ baker 6speed.
