Default Weld baffles in Chrome exhaust, ruin chrome plating

Guys, when you re-weld in baffles into a chrome exhaust, does it ruin the chrome plating or can it get TIG/MIGed in without a problem?

Thanks,
Andrew

Welding on chrome will most likely ruin it. Why not just bolt them in?

Im a pre-schooler when it comes to welding experience at best, but a proper weld will more than likely discolor the chrome at best, probably bouble. My old V&H had bolt in baffles, which I prefered, you could take them out, change them out if you wanted to, Id go with the others and vote on bolt. You can find baffles that bolt in, all you have to do is drill a small hole, normally on the the under or back side of the pipe. small allen head bolt and bam, bobs your uncle.

If you have removable chrome covers take them off weld and put them back on.If they don't come off drill a hole on the backside and bolt them on.EZ
