I agree here. It seems silly to pay that kind of price when MSRP on the new '10s is only $14,499. Unless of course as stated above there is a market out there willing to drop the coin because it is a "classic".

That seems to be the exact problem that I'm running into.

haha, love at first sight huh man

If they were still being made in all the colors, I'd get something else, but I'm kind of stuck here. I didn't like the anniversary colors when I first saw pictures, but I thought that it looked much better in person.

I did get a few price quotes on 2010 models, and the best offer that I've been able to find on a 2010 is 16200 out the door so yeah this is about 1600 more for a bike that's two years older.

Agreed on both counts. The bike will be hit with some *Serious* depreciation the minute you buy it. As for the Duracell paint job... if my only choice was a Duracell WG, I'd paint it the minute I got it home.

JORDAY - you can buy an extremely nice, used WG for around $10,000 all day and night. I paid $9,000 for mine in August 08. It's a 2002 and had 14,000 miles on it (it has 29,000+ now). The added bonus of buying used, is you don't have to spend another $5 or $10 grand to tweak it up. Mine already had the V&H longshots, Stage I air intake, tweaked carb, fork bag, floorboards. luggage rack & saddlebags, as well as an extra seat & sissy bar... probably at least $3 grand in add ons.

I think you should seriously reconsider your plans on only buying new. ...especially in the current economy, there are a LOT of nice bikes for sale out there.

I got my sportster here about 6 or 7 years ago. Here is their dyna page....You can get good prices if you go pre owned.

http://www.americanclassicmotors.net/dynas.htm

And that is from a lot....private owners who are strapped for cash are unloading em cheap! Just get a dealer assist if you wish to finance it and you should be good to go

Just a thought.

KBB's suggested retail value of that 08 Wide Glide is $15,960.
NADA's low retail is $12,785 and average retail is $15,973.
I would offer them $15800 OTD if you really wanted one new and that style.

Talked to them several times today. 15700 + michigan sales tax 942 + 600 to ship the bike to me = 17242 I can get the bike for 17200 even from a dealer here I found so maybe it's not that bad.

With the price they are wanting for 08's why not just get a 2010 WG and put a FB fender on the back, buy the chrome covers (already has chrome rockers covers the rest are easy to switch) and some apes.

I know there are some other things different but would still give you the same style.
