engine vibration ?

I think you are not getting your RPM's up high enough. When I start from a stop I have it at about 2200, and shift to the next gear at 3000-4000 depending on uphill/downhill, how fast I want to accelerate etc. Usually though I shift at about 31-3200 RPM's.
Also some of the bikes with rubber motor mounts need to have the motor balanced on the mounts again. It helped mine out significantly.

wow, sounds like im riding at a bit lower rpms than you guys. as i said im still learning how to ride this one. i have a benefit saturday. ill be observing some of the guys that ride dynas and see how they ride. and ill be asking them. did you balance your mount like this post described? it sounds really easy. once i get my hands on a torque wrench ill probably give it a try. if i run at higher rpms like you guys say, it seems like im winding it out a bit high. maybe im just too used to the smooth handling and ridability of the sportster. i need to think bigger. it just makes me wonder if something is not right when it vibrates. but as one guy told me im still getting used to the bigger bike and once i get used to how it rides is when ill know more. he just had his nighttrain converted to dry clutch w/belt primary and hes still getting used to the sound and feel of that too.
