Default 2006 Bob gas milage

I have got 300 miles on my new Street Bob and love it with the exception of one thing. I cannot make it get over 31 mpg. Honestly, I bought a bike at this time for the sole purpose of saving gas(my F250 get 15mpg) I thought a bike was the answer and I see you guys posting really high numbers in the high 30s and low 40s. Any ideas whats up with mine?

I have been getting about 44 mpg (running totally stock) so far this year.

Be careful when you fill up to try to do it at the same place with the bike in the exact same position.
With the bike on the side stand if it is on a downhill angle one time verses uphill the next time it
can make a pretty good difference.

I have never gotten below 38 mpg in 3,500 miles and have gotten up to 48 mpg on a trip.

You shouldn't be buying a bike for the sole purpose of saving gas, you buy it for the ride! I don't know what my Bob gets to the mile and frankly I don't care. I just put 10 or 12 bucks in the tank and off I go into the sunset. A flask on my leg and not a worry in the world. You can pay 3 bucks for a beer in a bar or you can sit home with a six pack of milwalkee best for the same money. Life is all about the fun ya have.

I'm there with you dude. Running completely stock, I never hit above 33mpg. Grant it, that's mostly stop and go driving. I've since added the Stage 1 and now a DFO and this morning I clocked in at 28mpg. I'm not concerned about the money savings as much as I am something may be up with the bike.

I'm at 2600 miles right now.

I agree with bear64, the engine is tight and the more it runs the looser it will get and motor that is new is tight. After about 4000 miles you will notice the diffence

Don't give up,I believe you'll do better than that.

I've got the SE intake, stage I,SEII's and I've gotten as high as 45. The worst I've gotten is 38 and that was pushing hard on a trip at 80mph with saddlebags and luggage bag loaded up.

Good Luck

I was running into the same problem on mine up until about 600 miles. Now I seem to be getting about 42 mpg and that is at 850 miles. The only fuel problem I have now is my silly little fuel light keeps coming on progressivly sooner. First refuel it came on and I put 3.8 gallons in her, the last time it came on about 2 days ago I only put around 2.7 gallons of gas in it. Now I am wondering about how many miles do you guys pull from a tank?
