Default Metz Rear Tire Question

I hit 10k miles on the bike and it is time for a new rear tire (plus there is a piece of metal in the rubber I noticed).
I looked at Dennis Kirk.com
What is the difference between the 170/60ZR-17, 170/60VR-17? Or, should I just replace the back tire with the stock size (a 160/70VB-17)?

Thanks

Default Metzlers

I've been looking at tires since mine are showing some wear, you might check Motorcycle Superstore, they have some good prices and free shipping, they also list approved installers so you can have them drop shipped and then make an appt, I have no affiliation with them but it would make it convenient. I have bought stuff from Dennis Kirk and they are good too.

+1 on Motorcycle Superstore. I believe the difference between the VR and ZR is the speed rating.

The VR&ZR are both radial tires the V+Z tell you the speed rating. If your not going to go over 130MPH you don't need them and you can save about $50.if you go with the160/70VB/17

Was it ever decided once and for all whether switching from the bias-ply to a radial with the rear tire was an improvement? I asked Metzler and they gave me a lawyer response about how I was taking my life into my own hands switching to the 170/60 Radial from the 160/70 Bias-Ply

Quite right. Unless your bike is seriously modified, the V rating is the one to go for. The Z will cope with much higher speeds, but is likely to have less tread and give you less mileage.
