Default cool tip for a shine on your tires

I have been washing my wheels and tires with dawn dish soap lately. Pleased to discover that my tires never looked more shiny new.

Dawn would be good for the tires, but I think if used on rims it would actually strip off the wax!

In my opinion Dawn on the tires would not be a good idea! according to the MSDS data sheet for Dawn, it contains ETHYL ALCOHOL (ETHANOL). Alcohol cleansers have a tendency to dry out the rubber after prolonged use.

Just FYI, the end decision is yours!

I am willing to bet that mine will be worn out before dried out. Some get to ride a few more months out of the year than the northern states or Canada Eh.

I agree, Chances are it would take years of repeated use to cause any noticeable damage. But for those UNFORTUNATE individuals that don't ride often enough to go through tires regularly, it might come in to play. Then again if they never ride they probably never have a need to clean the tires! So maybe I'm more paranoid than i should be.
