Default Please tell me there's a better way

I am removing my passenger pegs. On the left side, there isn't enough clearance to get my 3/8 ratchet and torx head in there. So I am using a T-45 torx hand wrench, and of course it is taking forever to get the bolts out. See photo. They turn easy, but it is slow going.

I am dreading getting them back in, and of course no way to get the torque wrench in there; I will have to just locktite them and do it by feel.

Is there an easier way?

I just did mine last week, had to apply a little tapping with a hammer to break them loose. My small rachet set had enough clearance for the rear bolt once it was losened a little. The one closer to the fender was a real PITA. I have a set of torx bits and slid a 8mm box end wrench over the bit, keeping the bit firmly implanted in the bolt. Slow, yeah, maybe 10 minutes. Once the bolts get about 3/4 - half way out you can loosen them by hand.

Now you are looking forward to the same PITA to but the L bracket on.... put the bolt near the fender in first with the bracket swung out of the way, then do the other one.

My stealership offered to do this free during the 1000 mile check, but the L bracket was not in stock. With the right tools its not bad, pretty quick for them.

Thanks Mud! I'm going to go the 2up seat/sissybar/pegs route and, after reading this, was not looking forward to the task. Looks like I'll be using hex heds from the get-go.

I could not get mine to break loose and was afraid to strip it. Took it to the dealer and they said 30 buck to remove it told them ok.

Glad I did, they ended up having to remove the rear tire and use a breaker bar to get it loose. Best damn 30 dollars I ever spent.

I finally did it, little at a time. What a pain! Right side took like 60 seconds.

Yep, I would replace with HEX heads and invest in ratcheting box-end wrenches. I use my set all the time for stuff like this.
