Default Adding some tunes to my rides...

The more I ride, the more I think about how some tunes would really improve my ride. What are you doing for music on your Dyna? Is it legal to wire up an ipod, and listen to that on the road with headphones?

What about these helmets with built in audio? I dont know much about them - just seen them tonight in the HD catalog.

I had concerns about safety, and then the law, but I cant hear **** out there anyway with the wind smacking my ears around. Not quite like riding a bicycle or driving a car with headphones on.

Would appreciate your thoughts. I'm new to all of this....

Depends on your state if headphones are illegal.
I use an mp3 player with Skull Candy ear buds and at 70mph on the highway with no windshield and short shot pipes I can hear it just fine and that's not even with the volume up all the way.

Ipod with ear-bud headphones under your helmet is the only way to go. Not illegal anywhere that I've ever heard of. Heck, I ride in earplugs almost all the time.

It is illegal in some states SilverV. Where I live in Virginia it is illegal to have them in both ears but I still ride that way. I got a ticket back home in Oklahoma in the 80s for having speakers in my helmet, I see now it says no restrictions on them though.

Check your state out here http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/laws.asp

+1. I use them under my FF helmet, works great, and im sure better sound quality then even what those baggers have. If I were to be pulled over and given a hard time about it, I'd ask the cop if its illegal for deaf people to ride a motorcycle??? me cop

I've been using ear buds under my helmet with my ipod. I finally found a pair that I can wear all day with comfort, as my ears just don't seem to be made for ear buds. They have a **** name (sure they don't make 'em), and wrap around the back of your ear, with the speaker hanging down. They were about $30, but they sound real good, are very comfortable, and stay in place.

I use a set of custom made ear plugs, made like hearing aids (molded to individual ear). I use them at work, home yard work and riding the bike. They are not cheap though, 200.00 a set, but the sound is just incredible and yet I can still hear somewhat with them if i want.
