Default Regarding lowering

Lowering the rear seems to be a popular thing, so it must have some merit. I never went that way, since I was always reluctant to give up on any rear swing arm travel. I ride 2up sometimes, cranking the shocks up to 5 (I usually ride at 3 at 180 lbs and saddlebags) since I don't like to bottom out.

Also, the lower the bike is, the more lean angle you need to turn the same radius. Which is why my boots are so worn down on the outside (given the rake on the forks) and why the softail rocker is so deadly.

Don't want to discourage you. Just save your old shocks.

2011 FXDWG slims fab farm sissy bar, saddlemen bags, Memphis shades windshield, great bike gear turn signal relocation kit, chopped fender luggage rack, mustang vintage solo with back rest(passenger pillion is on back order), 412 progressive 12.5 inch, Vance and Hines side shots, kuryakyn Hypercharger, power vision

I'm contemplating new bars but I don't know what to get. I've thought about t-bars that were a little taller and an inch or two more pull back, mini apes, even buck horns.

One option you could consider would be to use riser extensions to get your bars up and back. These are 2" DK Custom riser extensions and they do exactly what I'd hoped they would; an inexpensive mod to get those bars up and back. No wiring, cable, or brake line changes needed

I haven't posted on here in a while. my 2012. 14 inch carlini evil apes on a 1/2 inch drag specialties riser. Vance and Hines big shots with some rash on the bottom (from trying to rode it like it's my fxr), screamin eagle heavy breather and power vision tuner. also have a aftermarket speedo with the tach, digital seedo and fuel guage. powder coated the fork lowers and tripple trees after i blew a fork seal. tries selling it, but I guess I was asking too much so now I'm keeping it.
