2010 Wide Glide Owners - Let's keep track of our mods....
#3891
Hi, this is my first post and I thought you may be interested in a few modifications I've done to my 2014 FXDWG.
My first Harley was a 2009 Sporty 1200C that I bought new here in Australia. I enjoyed the Sporty and did the obligatory modifications to exhaust, seat etc etc...............some good changes, some not so good but in the process I knew that when I bought my next Harley I would have a better idea of what I wanted to make the "perfect" bike for me.
I loved the Sporty, strange as it may seem the rubber mounted engine had the same feel as an R90/6 BMW I bought new way back in 1976!!! The vibes of both machines was noticeable but never intrusive and at highway speeds was smooth and healthy.
So, as I'm 60 later this year I thought I'd buy myself a 2014 FXDWG as an early birthday present. Totally happy, I love the raked out forks and 21" front wheel and you have to have black with orange flames!!! As much as I loved my Sporty, the Wide Glide just does everything that much nicer.
The pictures show a few accessories that I've changed to my taste such as the mirrors, grips and axle covers.
The modifications I would definitely recommend to enhance the actual comfort and rideability of the machine are:

The modifications I would definitely recommend to enhance the actual comfort and rideability of the machine are:
- Mustang Wide Vintage solo seat, firm but very comfortable on long trips, slightly higher than original seat and moves you forward slightly
- Screamin Eagle Slip-ons, mellow but still sounds like a Harley and doesn't shatter your eardrums, annoy your neighbours and attract the cops
- Screamin Eagle Heavy Breather air cleaner, best way of providing comfort and clearance for your right leg
- Extended 5" Harley footpegs P/N 49500-92T provides more room for your boot
- Harley Get A Grip hand grips P/N 56100008 are excellent
- Heartland front fender, perfect fit and quality product
- Nightrider FL-XiED-10, makes the bike run sweet and cool tonking around the suburbs or out on the highway. I also ran XIED's on my Sporty, totally happy with the results
- Jes Custom Accents oil temp gauge, quality item
- Standard 12" Progressive 444 rear shocks, excellent smooth ride
That's a 2014? I thought they got rid of the Dongo on the rear fender a few years back. Or did you change that out?

Yes here in Australia the Dongo or "Limp D...." or whatever you like to call it is still fitted to the 2014 FXDWG. Personally I quite like the retro look of the rear light but it seems to be a love or hate sort of thing with Harley owners. Cheers.............

Only mod for me so far is I had 14" Wild 1 chubby outlawz installed at the dealer before I got it home. Still can't decide what exhaust and tuner to get. AC not a big deal finding one but I want a nice looking/sounding 2 into 2 exhaust. Been watching quite a few videos on youtube but the quality varies a lot so hard to tell what the pipes really sound like. Tuners I'm thinking: V&H fp3, TTS Mastertune or Thundermax. I am considering adding cams at some point so that may make the difference what tuner I get.
