Heat it up from the backside of the battery box using a heat gun, hair dryer or halogen work light and then work a piece of fishing line under the front or back edge and use it to loosen up the double-sided adhesive tape. Once you work through about an 1" of the tape the trim band can usually be pulled away from the box. If not, keep working through the double stick tape. Probably need to re-heat.

I ordered a brand new cover without the chrome strip for about $30.00. It was worth it to me to not fight with getting the strip off. Plus I still have the original one if I want to use it.

Default slight changes

Thanks for the help on the removal of the battery box badge. I wanted to post a couple of pics of the slow mods I have been making recently.

I purchased the badgcustoms solo left bag and battery box bag which I like for being able to put at least a few things in each without wearing the backpack. I also replaced the stock pipes with 2008 Street Bob pipes that had been bored out and provide at least a non-catalytic converter option and don't sound too bad. I am actually getting some Python Throwbacks to put on in the next few weeks and excited for those. I did the removal of the tank emblem as well and put on this new one I had found some others had used. You can get just about any color you want - not an easy glue sticky mess to get off the tank removing the emblems. Few scratches but not bad. I like the changes it made in the look of the bike with the blue and different emblem. Love the narrow LaPera seat and I only undo one strap on the bag to put on or off the detachable sissy bar.

Thanks for posting up those pics Ken.
I had been thinking about installing an edge light on my bike.
I just ordered one.

gtsouth, the site that you bought your battery cover bags has a photo of your bike advertising the same bag but just one side that bolts on for $80. Thought it was funny because I new it was your bike that were saddle bags a couple of items down for $150.

Speaking of Licks solo bags, I just put one on the swing arm of my 2013 WG. At first I took off the belt guard because the instructions said it wasn't necessary, but found the weight of the bag was enough to cause the bag to rotate around the swing arm and actually contact the belt. So I had to put the belt guard back on. That works, but I'm only getting about 1/4" of clearence between the bag and belt. I used 2 zip ties and a leather strip to attach it to the swing arm. I'll go back and see if the zip ties can be further tightened as they may have loosened up a little already from bike vibration, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Otherwise, it's a nice bag and I haven't dragged it yet (but haven't really leaned it over that far since I've put it on either).

BTW - I LOVE the WG!!!! I have been wanting one for a couple years now and it looks better in person, and rides even better. Great job by Harley on this one.

Yeah you can't tell from the photo. I would know your bike anywhere I studied the fkn thing every day last year from Sept. to the day I bought mine in March, and did quite a few photoshop mock-ups with it too lol
