Default 08 Dyna SuperGlide Vibrations

I have an 08 SG that has an abnormal vibration. The vibration is at its worse when accelerating in both 5th and 6th gear. I've taken it to the dealer once and they charged me $100 dollars to tighten the belt and a motor mount but the vibration is still there. I'm not a mechanic by any means but I know this vibration is not normal. It does not vibrate when I clutch and coast so I don't believe its an unbalanced tire or rim. Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance....

5th gear is going to vibe a little more, its the cut of it, they changed that in 2010. Have you tried the loosening motor mounts and running the bike for 10-20 seconds and then torqing them down. There was a post on here a while back, title something like "why didnt i do this sooner" or something along those lines. Dude just loosen the front mount and retorqued after he ran it and blipped the throttle a few times. I've never done this however.

Also.... Are you rocking a windsheild in your pic? Usually over 60-70 you get buffeting from that... Do you have the same vibe with the shield off?

EDIT: WHERE ARE THE VIBES, FEET? HANDS? ***? IF IN THE HANDS MIGHT WANT TO CHECK THE TORQUE OF YOUR RISERS AND HANDLEBAR CLAMPS.

Can you estimate the speed/rpm you feel the vibes as you accelerate in 5th/6th. Are you partial throttle or near full? How is your idle vibes? Did the extra vibes just develope?

The Vibes are most evident at 50 mph or more. The faster the more vibe. They get alot worse when accelerating doing 50 or more. The more throttle the more vibe. It feels like the vibe is below the seat.

I will try the motor mounts this weekend and see if that helps. I've had the windscreen on since I purchased the bike and i've got 4500 miles on it now. The vibes did not start till about 4400 miles. However, i will take it off and see if that fixes it.

I believe its 25 ft/lbs...

I also shimmed up my front mount with 2 grade 8 washers on each bolt. Made a huge difference in the amount of vibes.

I know this might be crazy, but I would re-torque the pipes where they connect to the heads. Also, check to see if the heat shield clamps are loose or touching the frame. Usually, this would result in vibes though all gears (speeds), but you never know... It sounds like a motor mount, but cover all your bases.

My turn.......What's the torque value for that???

I considered doing this after I put on my slip-ons just to make sure nothing came loose...But I'm afraid to touch those bolts.....
