Default Warrenty issue #8

Hey all,a couple weeks ago I'm in the country and every now and then I start my bike and it's like the starter gets stuck. once yesterday I'm starting the engine and the starter just stops I let go and presssed again and it fired right up. sometimes the starter motor stops but I don't let go the button and it crannks and starts for me. Battery seems strong. I showed it to the local tek and and serveice rep and they are telling me they need to pull it apart and keep it about a week. Anyone heard of this or have a fix for it.Tek says he's never heard that sound before,he thinks it's likely the starter motor but says the gear that drives the crank may be cracked, he also says it wouldn't be a loose connection or anything like that.
Just when the rain seems to be letting up a little.

I'm bummed

Not to sound patronizing but I had that issue with my sportster and it was actually a loose battery cable. When the engine would vibrate on the initial crank it shake it just enough to cause a short. Just wondering if that was something that you checked.

yeah sounds like the starter is going... still got warranty left? dont know if starter is considered a warranty item, but its worth a shot.

That's what the tek said ,they want to keep it a week....unbeleiveable! Don't they usually make the easier to change part the one more likely to break down in this case? I don't really want them pulling the starter and splitting the crank case and stuff.

Check your battery cable connections at both ends.

Does not sound like the starter motor, they whine, wheeze etc.. Starer soleonid, again as all of have suggested, check every wire that has anything to do with the starter first. Could even be the starter switch.
