I had my engine blacked out when I had the 103" bore out and the cams installed.
Cost a ton of money. I bought the wrinkle black kit from HD, it included: inner and outer primary cover, rocker box covers, cam cover and transmission covers. Had my Indy heat black the rest while it was broken down.

You have to give it to the MOCO - creating more sales out of customers dissatisfied with what they have compared to the year before or after. Just like choosing a partner, my advice is to always find the bike closest to the one you are going to want in the long run or it costs you big time down the line.
There seem to be an inordinate number of 2009 Street Bob owners who are now dissatisfied that their ride has small t*ts.

IMO the grey motor looks good as a contrasting backdrop for black pipes. I think it looks a good bit better with black pipes than chrome ones. Though I'm not real big on black pipes, I think it's all context. Take the thing that you think is the lamest accessory ever, and there is probably a bike on which it would look just right.
