103 Stg2 Done
#11
Went over budget $100 since I opted to have the SE base map installed.
Spent the morning getting the PC V installed. Wound up using map 18.
I've only put about 100 miles on it but I am very happy with the results.
I should have just had this done when I bought the bike. I spent the last year thinking that the 255's would not be enough and that I needed a full $4K heads/BB job and that the SE Stg2 wouldn't be good enough. For those on the fence, ignore the SE Dyno charts; they appear to be only a 10lb gain over Stg1 and don't do it justice. This bike is loud, mean, and nasty now.
Very pleased.

I don't disagree with your methods it just was not in the stars for me. Don't forget the 96" heads were redesigned to outperform the 88". Have you ridden a 103 Stg2 w/o head work? It feels pretty damn good to me.

i will leave the rest alone..no piston no cylinder....now have to try to find the right
person for the head job.....

Not getting the heads done as the Serv. Mgr said pretty much what you said above re; 88 vs. 96. Expecting around 92 ft# which is fine for me.
I worked a Dyno run into the job, with 103 parts, cylinder work and install for $700.
Which happened to be almost exactly how much $$ I saved by buying all my parts for the accident repair on a "Parts Sale Weekend".
That allowed me to get the work done and still stay within the Insco's repair check.
Timing is everything.
Pelliot, Do you plan on a 500 mile break in, as when new?
Still waiting for a new Tank from HD, now on day 58, which is holding up the entire process.

I did a cams only for $300."37's", I feel I was lacking more in the cam department than porting or big bore, I do plan on going to a 103ci and a mild port job but both will be done at the same time, I can't see pulling the heads for porting only OR pulling the cylinders for big bore only, it might cost a little more doing both at the same time but you save a lot of time and time = money.
