Ok think I am going to get some detachable stuff to put on the bike.

Got the mounting hardware and side plates that I need to do it picked out but the sissy bars are hard to tell from pics of them unmounted.

Basically it will never be on the bike unless it has luggage on it so I figure I need one a little taller for a good size bag. Wife has never ridden but would like it to be a good height for her just incase.

Also which of the 2 racks is better for a larger bag

So which Sissybar/Pad/rack would you recommend.

bberk I use the Low Sissy Bar with the Low Smooth Baclrest and a Sport Luggage Rack on a detatchable set up. It has worked well for me when Mama rides on the back. The wife says the backrest is not bad and the rack supports whatever we load up in the bag. Detatchable is definitely the way to go just because you can put on or take off in less than a minute.

It's the mid bar with 5 bar luggage rack. Holds a good sized tour bag no problem.

HD has 3 or 4 different heights, and mine came with the medium low, which I ended up shelving in favor of the short one like archergodwin has due to the fact just a couple inches made a difference for my wifes comfort.
She is about 5' 5", goes about a buck thirty, and the tad taller one sat high enough in her back to make her set a little too forward to keep me from gettin any for a couple of days............
It threw me due to the fact she spent 12 hours on one last winter in complete comfort, but as I began to dig I discovered they had a few variances that "looked" the same from a distance.
I gave the dealer the 100 dollar bill, and she has been comfy ever since.

 

i just put on the medium low back rest not bad.....i like the look of the short back rest better. i think it will make my 2009 lowrider look better.......

 

Archer, I see you moved your rear turn signals. Is that necessary?

 

I got the short one first, got it home mounted it and went back and got the tall one. My wife really likes it because it gives her more to rest on. It is only on when she rides or it has a bag mounted to it. To me I like the looks of the short ones but I dont have to rest my back on it.

 

Only if you intend to put bags on. The detachable hardware does require a relocation kit, which mounts the turn signals in the rear fender strut mounting hole. But since I wanted to use detachable bags also (Easy Brackets), I needed to move them to the fender.

That is HDs cheap turn signal bar... I'm planning to redo the tail light/turn signal setup... just not sure to what yet... haven't seen anything really grab me.
