Default 2" Tank Lift Question w\Pics

I finally got around to mounting the 2" tank lift. I removed the console to get a little more slack from the speedo and tach wires. When I try to replace the console it appears that the vent hose is pulled to the max - to the point where I can no longer put the console back on.

I would like to replace the vent hose with a longer hose. Do need, to do anything special before removing the vent hose? I have read the service manual and it only gives instructions for if you want to remove the entire tank, which seems to be alot of extra work to just swap out the 2" vent hose for a 4 or 5" vent hose.

Thanks in advance,
Matt

Sorry don't mean to jack your thread but I think they have already answered your question anyway...

09fxdb How do I get one of those JACKYL Tank lifts?

Excellent...thanks for the response! I used the 2" Jackyl kit, which included the vent hose - I'll be replacing the original hose.

F CPT98, do a member search for Jackyl. Shoot him a PM and he'll get right back to you. He ships real quick and his lift is used by alot of members on the board.

He's a member here but I bought it off him on ebay...his seller id. is "mmcproducts"...his seller store is "MotorcityCreations"...US$29.95 + shipping and worth every cent..install by an amateur in no time flat..1/2 hour...just a tip..use the acorn nut from the rear tank mount, on the front instead of the nut supplied..use that on on the rear...you'll see what I mean.

FYI, not sure if he still does it or not but Jackyl was giving a little discount for members that buy direct from him here vs. ebay. Basically since here he doesn't have any ebay or paypal fees to deal with.

+1 on the acorn nut suggestion. It makes the 2 bolts in the front match and the rear one isn't seen anyway.

Good call, board member Wrongturn suggest this bolt swap when I first received the kit, too. I'll be doing this for sure!

Hate to jack this thread even more but for all the guys who raised their Dynas, you all recomend the kit instead of doing it yourself? I raised my Sportster tank myself and now my cousin wants to raise his streetbob tank and he doesn't know if he should buy the kit or do the same thing I did and just fabricate the parts but it seems like there is more to a dyna raise than there is to a sportster raise. Is that true?
