Default Brake light stays on

When I use my front brake my light stays on, if I wiggle the lever around it will go off but as soon as I squeeze the brake it sticks on again. What would cause this?

Bad switch or the shim is flat.....

The shim is a "V" shaped piece of metal that seats the switch in the housing.....

Have you changed out your grips?

Did you put the shim in the brake lever when you did it? Did you maybe pinch any of the wiring with the clamp when you put it all back together?

After checking the other stuff, try a little WD40. It might just need a little lube.

My sporty did this and it ended up being the spring that holds the lever away from the handle bar was worn out. Bought and installed a front brake cylinder rebuild kit and solved the problem.

You have me worried now, when i took the switch housings apart last week , to put chrome switches on , a copper v shaped bit about quarter of an inch come out of the trottle side , everything works fine , i thought this might have been just to clamp wires ????????????

Nope. Shovelhead Bob knows his stuff. Find that piece and put it back.

Did you check your brakelight fluid? You could be low. [8D]

Guess you know what your problem is now.......

Invest in a service manual... It will pay for itself 10 fold....
