if I told you how much i paid for my 09 Fat Bob, you'd ****,

Im saying it again, and ill say it again, if you really want the bike, go in their strong, and with a set dollar amount. The smoked Bob, is not an issue anymore, she has a problem, dont even waste your time looking at it.

Now, take your wife to dinner, explain your desire, the emotions involved in a new scoot for the both of you, formulate an attack plan and go into the thiefs den with money in hand. do not go in there askin for a bike and a loan, you're gonna lose everytime.

I say get a FatBob, but I see your already in the frame of mind for a SB.
I wish you all the best, and if you Beat my price, ill KEEELLL you, LOL

Happy hunting

PS. Have you looked in the Private sector for SB sales??

I didn't do it. Had a long talk and she didn't say 'no' she just said not now. Economy, family, wants vs. needs, ect. one of the other reasons, which IMO is not one to argue is she would really like for to have a Road King which in the long run is my dream bike. She wants to ride with me too and feels that the SB won't give us that as comfortable as we could be.

If I could afford both I would, hell I'd have more than two, but as of now, I'm waiting.

Thanks for the tips. Maybe I'll stop by once those 2010's are on the floor next to the 4 other SB's and talk again...

Thanks reesestewww, but I can't take credit for what our soldiers do. I'm working here with the military as a contractor. It's those men and women who get all the thanks.

Don't buy any bike that puts out all kinds of smoke on a test drive. Sell the shadow, wait a few weeks, take the wife to the dealer and find a bike with a 2 up. The dealers are droping prices like crazy. You will get a nice bike and have your wife with you on some nice rides.

From a woman's point of view....
1. Pay off the Shadow.
2. Send her to a Riders Edge or similar beginners riding class.
3. Get her riding the Shadow..... and put the seeds in her head "wouldn't it be great to be able to ride together" on our own bikes
4. When the time is right, let her have the Shadow and look into getting the bike of your dreams, with her blessings.

You're never too old to learn. I took the Riders Edge class and got my first ever bike in 2007 at the age of 57. Today, Low Rider and I went to the Doctors office, Bank, Hardware Store and Gas station......total of 85 miles all by my self. I'll be 59 next week, and am having the time of my life. The key is to get her interested and enthusiastic about bikes and riding. The rest will fall into place.

I think you were right to not go against her wishes, despite what we all say about bikes there are more important things to consider Wait awhile and then both go and try some bikes, Road King vs Softail Heritage vs Fat Bob maybe, be a lot of fun with you both singing form the same hymn sheet.

Just HOW opposed to this is she? I ask myself..."What's the worst that can happen?" Going from a Honda Shadow to a H-D...priceless..
