Default FXDX Shocks

I recently bought an 05 FXDX, and just finished the Stage 1, bike runs great, then I noticed the left rear shock is leaking. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

The OEM shocks are $323 ea , OUCH!, and I don't know if it is okay to just replace the bad one.

I see used FXDX shocks on Ebay, could be okay but you never know and these shocks are not rebuildable.

The WORKS shocks look like they may be good, about the same price as the OEM HD and they are rebuildable.

Shocks are 13.75", I don't think I can use a standard shock but thanks for the offer.

Default Replacement shocks

I replaced both mine last month, 19,000 miles 04 fxdx. tried progressive and drug a lot along with bottoming out. Used OEM replacements, restored the ride though, went two-up to Vegas and back with a smooth ride all the way.

Try works performance. I hear they make some good shocks. Or, if you have some $$$, you definitely can't go wrong with Ohlins shocks. Read a LOOOOT of good things about them.

I looked at some Works on Ebay, they cost about the same as the OEM but they are rebuildable. I think I'll just stick to the OEM.

There's not to many options for an FXDX. The ride height on that model is higher than most, also the suspension in adjustable. I would stick with OEM if you like the ride and the height. If not the three mentioned above are all quality products. Just remember if you change the ride height in the rear it's going to effect the whole bike. I think Works makes a setup for the front and rear. It will lower the whole bike and tighten it up a bit.

Works, Ohlins 36E, and YSS Z 366 TRL are all in the same price range 650+/- they are all sprung for your weight and riding style, all are rebuildable(every 30K) and are all IMO better alternatives to the oem shocks for the same price.
