Default Hmm - question? Random backfiring?!

Hey guys,

I've got a question. I ride my bike EEEEEVERYDAY to work. And normally it runs pretty good. But yesterday as I started the bike up, it started up kinda weak. I didn't think much of it, I let it warm up for a minute then off I go. As I get on the road, the bike was popping/crackling/farting/backfiring quite a bit. I have my bike tuned to perfection and I have a hard time trying to get it to backfire at all normally. But for some reason, on the ride to work yesterday, it was doing all of the above and quite a bit. That is the 2nd time that it has happened since I've had the bike tuned (8 months ago). The first time was when I went on a toy run I believe it was, and the bike was getting reaaaaally hot since there were hundreds of bikes, so it started to pop/crackle, and then yesterday.

Now my question is... what would cause that? I rode it today and it didn't do any of that. It ran fine. Any suggestions? I just changed spark plugs a couple/few weeks ago as well.

Thanks for the help fella's.
Adrian

Could be bad gas or little bit of water in the gas.

Was it on acceleration or decel? If it's on decel, check your exhaust flange nuts. I had the same thing on the way home yesterday. It started out just a little and gradually got worse. By time I got home it was horrible. Both nuts on my rear pipe flange were missing. Two new nuts and exhaust seals today and it's running like a champ.

The exhaust flange nuts could be the cause, and while you're at it, check all the exhaust system connections and fittings.
