I did the same thing the other day. I bought a black Thunderheader off another forum member. Used a scuff pad from the auto parts store, then sprayed it with flat black BBQ paint. It came out looking brand new. After about 100 miles is still looking great.
WOW! it looks great! i hope ya wouldn't mind if i borrow that idea from you one of theses days.
Go ahead...I got the idea from people in here that have done it.
F_CPT98...Just sand the chrome real good with sand paper to scruff it up and wipe with acetone or denatured alcohol to clean. Then spray...wait to dry and then stick in momma's oven for about an hour on high setting to cure it before you mount 'em back on.
Sounds good... but Momma's got a gas oven!! So I might just have to stick them out on the driveway for a couple of hours to cure to prevent this from happening to me!!! I live in SW Arizona it is HOT like an oven outside anyway!!

thanks for the advice!
Might as well install it when completely dry and start riding the crap out of it. The paint will get baked that way too.
Bob, Not to change the subject or jack your thread but since we're all going to copy you where did you get that A/C?? that thing is Bad A$$!!
Thanks. I had the chrome air cleaner skull cover that you can get from HD. I sanded it to scuff it up and hit it with some black paint. It fits perfect on the K&N filter. Easy mod.
