Kevin09FXDF on another thread painted his heat shields black. I'm thinking about painting mine black too and also buying a pair of black slip on mufflers to go with them for my '05 FXD. Any opinions on the Rush vs SE II slip ons? Quality of sound? Improvements in performance? The Rush mufflers are about $90 more. I am currently running chrome SE II's and am satisfied with their sound (they're just not black.) I'm curious to find out if the Rush mufflers are so much better to justify the price difference. I f you like the sound already paint your seII's- high heat paint. rush will be louder and deeper. performance wise you can't really tell unless your have it on a machine.I don't know why they cost more! they are just straight through louvered baffles!

 

I think the rush sound better than the SEII's. I have an 06 wideglide...had seIIs first...then got rush with 1.75 and they sounded better (louder and deeper) then went to the 2.0 baffles...
If they'll fit your 05...I can sell them to you...the rush slip-ops actually slipped-off one day so there are some scratches on them, but if you want to paint them I think it wouldn't matter....I would like to sell the SEII's as well....I now have V&H staggered short shots...
