short chrome bolts
I'm looking to replace the bolts on my tank bib or dash or what ever everyone wants to call it (see attached pic). The bolts are 5/16 coarse thread, 3/8" long. I already checked with my local hardware store that supplies me with my monthly chrome fix but the shortest they have is 1". I also looked online and could only find about 1" as well. I looked at the original button head style and the socket head as well.
I already tried to just pop some chrome cover caps on but they look odd and keep popping off when I wipe the tank down.
It got me wondering what other ideas you guys had to replace them or dress those stock bolts up. I was thinking maybe painting them but thought they'd get scratched up putting them in and from day to day use.
