Default Sissy bar vs saddlebags

First off, I want to say hello and greetings from Southern California! I'm new this forum, and I'm a proud new owner of an 06 street bob.

I apologize if any of my questions have been asked and answered before, or seem redundant, but I'm struggling with a couple things.

The long and short of my question is whether or not anyone has put a sissy bar on their dyna with a solo seat.

Here's my dilemna...

I ride about 30 miles to work everyday (loving it), and I've been carrying a backpack. Unfortunately, I have to carry a lot of stuff (laptop, etc). I thought about saddlebags, but I just don't care for the look on the street bob. The whole reason I bought the bob was for the clean and stripped down look. So for me, putting bags on it defeats the purpose. So then I thought about getting a sissybar, but I love my solo seat...and I'm just not sure how the bike would look with a solo seat and sissybar.

Tbags makes a backback that all my stuff would bit in, and it straps to just about any sissybar, but I'm not sure how it would look. Or if it would scratch up my fender while resting on it for 30 miles.

Does anyone else have this issue? Any pictures of a solo seat and sissybar?
Thanks for putting up with the new guy.
:-)

A couple guys run a detachable sissy bar with a mothers well solo rack under it. This will allow you to carry what you need with out scratching your fender.

Both come off very quickly when want the stripped down look.

Default Here's another option

Solo bag (left side only) by Garage Leathers, http://garageleathers.com/ Black or brown, differant buckles, what ever you want. Would look good on a Bob. Probably big enough to hold your laptop.

Awesome. thanks for the suggestions guys. Both seem really viable...just need to make sure the solo bag will accomodate a 15 inch laptop and all the other crap I have to carry.
Thanks again.

You could get a custom sissy bar; a tall one. THat would add some attitude to your street bob and be functional too. But, personally, for what you say you need to carry I would go with bags.

There isnt going to be a "tried and true" answer for your dilemma. You'll end up doing what most of us has done already, and thats experiment with different stuff until you find what fits your needs.

I agree though, the back pack has got to go. I like the idea of a solo rack and attitude stick. It's functional and its cool. I chose the route of "D", all of the above. Everything is quick detach so I can change gear as quick as I can pick my nose.

Harley also has the solo rack, that detaches, only in chrome though...
I have one use it once in a wile, it fits the same docking points as my detachble backrest.

Nice ride bones206. Have you ever strapped a bag to that sissybar? Would it (or has it) scuffed your fender?
Thanks

I've run with a detachable backrest/sissy bar with a luggage rack, and my tourmaster t-bag. Works well...... I've run that with my sundowner and my mustange solo.... Screw what other people think of it.

Let me know if you want a pic of it.
