Derby cover
Alright here is a newby question. I have an 06 St. bob and absolutely hate the stock chrome derby cover. When I decide to replace it, how do I do it. Does the bike need to be upright? Is oil gonna come out when I take it off? Any special tools? I know these are simple questions, but I haven't done it before. Any help would be great.
Thanks.
Thanks.

RE: Derby cover
Have the bike upright when you take it off ,oil wont come out then, warm the bike up first , the screws will loosen better ,and use the right size bit on the screws , the rubber small gasket thats on there standard will not fit the replacement , so buy the item quoted on the instructions of new item .
Lots of variations available even jack Daniels
Then you will do matching points

just put a small block of wood under the jiffy and the bike won't leak. You will need a #27 torx bit and take the top one off last. The torx screws should be torqued back on to about 100 INCH lbs (check the service manual) with a torque wrench and if you want to get them off easily put some loctite never seize on the threads. i thought the stock st bob derby cover was the flat black and not chrome? (some have gloss paint & chrome)
does a new gasket come with the derby covers when you order them?(not always so make sure you get the correct one)
what is the torque specs when putting a new one on?( I'm at work and don't have my manual but I think it's around 100 inch lbs and there is a tightening pattern)
thanks

You guys should buy a service manual for your bike before you work on it. Order it on-line from Zannottis HD in Butler Pa. for about $40.......my $.02

KBFEDLI, Do you work or get some sort of kickback from Zannottis ? You are really pushing them pretty hard.
