XiED's a short-term fix before real tuner?

xieds are a good product for what they do, but they do not replace a tuner. xieds only work in closed loop, so the only real benefit is a cooler running engine, and a possible improvement in throttle response since the transition to open loop it coming from an already richer mixture.
What xieds don't do, is they do not richen the mixture in open loop. IF you are lean enough to cause a problem open loop is where it is going to happen. I'm not saying you will be, I just want you to unserstand what you are getting with the xieds. This is why they work well with the download, and any emmisions legal tuner, because those don't work in closed loop.

XIED's
I put the XIED's on my stock '07 FXD. Cooler ride for sure but that was the intent. Installed Rush 2 inch slipons. Loud (too loud!) and IMO significant decel pop. Installed Samson Silver Bullet slipons (? 1.75 inch). Mild decel pop. Sold the Rush slipons at a conciderable loss. Not sure of my next move. Maybe Stage I download in hopes that this would get rid of the decel pops completely. Would welcome opinions on this. A SERT requires a dino tune which bumps you up into the $600 range. So if you go this route you might as well buy the 2 into 1 exhaust and AC and then have it tuned. $2000, just charge it!

XIED's are GREAT for their intended purpose...cooling the bike somewhat and making it a bit smoother on the accel.
If that's what you want...bang for the dollar the XIEDs are good.
If later you want to do more mods (i.e., Stage 1 AC) then you'll need a fuel management device (or download)
