Why do they call it a jiffy stand?

 

The stand Harley uses was originally designed (I understand) by CHP, so they could get off the bike in a jiffy?!

If the bike is only ridden solo you could take off the entire passenger footrest assembly to improve access to the stand. It bolts up out of sight under the bike and makes the whole thing look a lot neater.

 

I just bought a 05 Wide Glide that has been lowered and noted the lack of lean angle on the stock stand. I'm heading to the local HD shop to get the low rider jiffy asap.

If you get off the bike and forget to put it down, the bike will fall over in a Jiff. Actually, I am 55, from Maryland, and we always called it a "kickstand."

 

For some reason I cant touch mine with my foot so I just bend over and do it with my hand.
