the dealer changed mine out and told me the factory had over tightened it. Just screw it down nice and snug without de-forming the gasket and pump the brake a few times and check if anything flows out. ten check it periodically.

Only fill the master cyclinder half full and finger tight.

My manual said 6-8 inch pounds ... '05 FXDI ....

I overtightened mine and still the leak stopped, but I think it is just because enough of the overfill was relieved ... I had it a tad above the 1/8" from top of reservoir (as per the Service Manual) ....
