Default AV Gas

Anyone burn AV gas in their bikes? I live next to a privately owned airport, and even though you're not supposed to ride to the pumps, a few guys I know do and swear by burning AV gas. I went tonight and filled up with it. It's expensive as hell and has a funny exhaust smell. I'll see next time I'm out if there's any better performance or not. I know it burns clean, the inside of their pipes are almost white from it.

that is 100 octane leaded gas,I use to burn that in my warrior all the time, now if you have a 02 censors on your bike don't do that you will mess those up,but if you have powercommander and 02s are blocked, no problem.....

Are you sure it's leaded? These guys I know have EFI and have ran it for years. I ran one tank last year, but it was mix half AV and half high grade Shell.

If you have a stock build, (stock compression) you're not going to get very much benefit. It's going to be about 105 to 110 octane. Now if you've got above 10:1 compression, your engine will love it.

It is leaded, and it will eventually render your O2 sensors inop.

We use avgas to winterize boats and for other long term storage. It has no ethanol and does not turn to varnish as it evaporates. We don't fill the tanks with it, but just run it through the fuel system. No known benefits for stock engines that are run on a regular basis. The guy who runs the airport says it makes air cooled engines run hot (temp. wise). ???

Man that's weird. I had a guy tell me once not to fill up for winter storage with it as it gums up. Looks like he didn't know chit.

Not sure if I'll use it often as the opinions vary.

the higher the octane the fuel is the longer it burns for in the chamber/cylinder thats why you you can advance the timing more with higher octane..also i might be wrong but it should run cooler if the engine is set up right
