After you have ridden about 150 miles it gets better looking.

It might not look the best but my wife loves it and on a long haul it's pretty comfy. I can go tank to tank no problem. Mine is a Sundowner solo with passenger pillon.

Looks good. What did you replace it with?

I have one for my 05. I only use it when my wife rides with me. Otherwise, I run my Sidekick Custom. The Sundown is comfortable but I find my Sidekick to be fine for solo rides of up to 300 miles, which is realistically about as far as I ride in any given day. I wouldn't even think of taking my wife on the bike with the Sidekick on, though, since the passenger section is only about 4 inches wide and not an inch thick. Face it, a comfortable two-up seat is going to be big. If you want your wife to be comfortable and enjoy the ride, having a less-than-awesome looking seat is a small price to pay.

My neighbor bought the sundowner for his wifes comfort; after he bought it he took it to C&C Custom seats (Goggle it) to have the portion he sits on shaved and fitted on his portion, and it looks pretty great! He had them add stitching on the seat as well. Looks and feels great with a custom look. I don't have a picture of it but if I can get one this weekend I'll post it for you.

Just an idea.

IMHO I don't think that it looks that bad, and I am a function over form believer anyway.

My wife and both my daughters have ridden hundreds of miles on it and have never heard so much as a peep about comfort or back /butt pain.

Looks fine with a back rest and as was stated previously, you can't see it when you're sitting on it.

I replaced it with the Harley Sidekick, but I would look into the RallyRunner, little bit more for the passenger comfort than the sidekick...
I also have a stock low rider seat.

The sundowner also puts you up higher on the bike , makes you feel like you are diding "on top of it"

Just my opinion.
