Default Heres a good one gas smell in oil.

Took it in for 5k service last week, and noticed gassy smell in oil before I left house. Just figured it's due for oil change, long story short picked bike up last friday rode home about 30 miles thought I would check oil and tires, must have been ocd coming out and noticed fresh oil smelled like gas. So called indy who did service took in this morning and now its going to dealer monday. Anybody notice this, indy and dealer seem concerned like they have seen this before just not saying anything. Kinda sucks because me and the wife are leavin for ohio on it friday afternoon, it's her last trip for year after having surgery middle of june.

And truck oil smells like diesel fuel. My oil smells like gas in the honda civic and the HD , I would not worry too much. Don't forget that "dry" they add 3 quarts of oil, that's a new bike . First oil change and every consecutive oil change they drain engine and add only 2.5 quarts-why ? because 1/2 pint of old oil stays in the engine and there is nothing anyone can do about that.

P.S. @ gary7 thank you for the correction. In qc a quart is 1 pinte in french, couple that with we use litres here which are just slightly larger than quarts and my ripping headache and you get my present stae of confusion!

Uh...I hope you mean quarts, or else your engine isn't going to last very long.

Yea, that does kinda suck. A sure way of gas getting into the oil is past the piston rings!
Only 5k miles??? Don't be supprised if the dealer quizes you on how it was 'broke in'.

Any chance you are running way too rich. That's usually what causes it. Milage and plug check will varify this.

Come to think of it, it was a little low don't know how low but around half way in safe zone. Not sure how much that would be maybe quarter to half of a quart, in 2500 miles.
