Street Bob: 06 vs 07 question
I know the engine is a little bigger starting in 07, but can you feel the difference?
Has anyone noticed a difference in how the 06 rides, vs. the 07-09?
Or are there any other differences, too?
I want to buy a used one this weekend, and I have both options.
Thanks in advance..
Lucien.

If you have the option I would go with the 07'. The 06' is a great bike but they do have their issues, which may have already been taken care of by the current owner. Do a search and find out as much about the 06' and then ask the seller if he has addresed the issues with this year. I have only ridden an 88 bagger and then a 96 dyna so it is hard for me to compare a 88 and 96 Dyna. I'll tell ya, if my 1200 sporty had a 6spd it'd put the hurt on my Dyna.

ahh i know i am going to get jumped on for this but, i got the 06... when the 07 came out i went for a test drive as i was going to trade in and get the bigger motor... i was so let down by the power... was not impressed at all, at the time there was nothing out for the bores and what not for upgrading so i kept hte 88... now all that has cahnged and you can mod the hell out of both of htem, to me... i have a 88 SERT, stage 1, VH pipes BCT baffles, tuned in just right... i can smack around 96's all in the tune man... even guys that have alot more motor work done can not belive how well my 88 does... granted it is time to crack open the block and start to make some bigger changes but either way you go you can not really loose

My biggest gripe with the 07s is the fender struts. In 06 they were chrome with chrome turn signals. In 07 they changed the struts to brushed aluminum but kept the chrome signals.
Just doesn't flow right if you asked me.
BTW - I have the 06 with the 88ci (recently bumped it up to 95ci) and have had very little problems with the bike. I can smoke almost everyone I ride with anytime I choose.

Well, I have an '07 Wide Glide, and I used to have a '06 Wide Glide. I agree with Joe, I see or feel no real difference in the 96'' motor over the 88". Actually, I liked the '06 way better. For a 100 reasons. The '07 MAY be a little better due to an issue with the stator on the '06 models. But, if the previous owner addressed that, then you're good to go. Also, the F.I. system was slightly upgraded in '07 so, may be with those two issues, the '07 would be the better choice... but may be not ! ?

My wife has the 06 Bob I have an 07 FXD----her bike is "stronger" a subjective phrase but I ride hers and it feels like it runs better faster---hard to describe, in order to keep up with the bride when she is in the "go fast " mode I put the Andrews 30 sprocket on my bike---runs and shifts better.
