Default How to push start bike

I saw a guy on the side of the road today and he was trying to push start his bike. I've seen it done before but don't know how to do it. Could someone tell me how incase I ever need to do it.
Thanks

Push, quickly
Hop on
Pull in clutch
Kick into gear
Pop clutch
Hang on, in case it doesn't start and wants to buck

Get new battery or starter

Push like hell with the clutch in and tranny in second. Hopefully you've got a downhill run also, 'cause it's going to be a pain to push start these beasts. Get moving, hop on, pop clutch and hope like hell.

Push it in second with the clutch in once you get enough speed dump the clutch and soon as it fire pull the clutch in or ride off. (oops too slow at getting the post up) +1 then!

If you were trying to start a newer bike with fuel injection and a dead battery would it work? Seems like it would need some power for the fuel pump.

If the push were needed due to a bad starter, that might be another story.

Good question! Well my car was a manual and when the battery was dead I jumped it and it started. That was fuel injected!! Never thought of it then, but it worked then I went and bought a new battery.

I've bump started my fuel injected truck a few times.
Sometimes, the battery isn't strong enough to crank the motor, but it has enough juice for other systems, like the fuel pump.

Push like hell, and hope some doesn't drive by just looking at you without offering to help...
