The TH was made to perform good, and yes the finish lack quality. But on the other hand you can get a pipe with killer quality but wont perform good. Its VERY rare that you get both. Maybe if alot of guys spoke up they would increase the quality of the finish on the TH. Maybe even make a polished stainless TH.

For 900$ (incl heatshields) you shouldn't have to sacrifice anything.

From what I've seen the VH pipes all look sweet and seem very well-finished. At least I hope so :-)

You need to look for a better price. I can get one for 625.00 with shields at my local shop.

And yes VH pipes are very good quality, and pretty good performance.

I was going direct from their website.

1031B - 06-09 Dyna Black $691
Heat Shields set of 3 - $209

I'm sure better prices exist, but that is the price direct from thunderheader.net

I don't know what shmuck is blowing smoke up your a$$, but my TH cost $489 from American Classic Motors. Best price I found, period. They wanted an extra $150 for the heatshields. I said "No."

I was warned of quality issues with the pipes myself. I chose the fatcat for that reason. I still think the t-header is my favorite pipe on a bike though.

I'm sorry but for that kind of money you should not have to cover the issues up with heat shields. And none the less with their garbage heat shields. Personally, I consider pipes a pretty much permanent improvement to a bike. TH..no way.
To avoid any confusion I'll get to the point. THUNDERHEADERS ARE GARBAGE.
