OOPS my bad, still why that? When most of the other stuff is thicker.......I guess in that hole as long as it's wet it'll be ok.
its a fluid made to be used with wet clutches, like the ones in automatic transmissions and our bikes, it is also used to lube drive chains like in a NP208 transfer case also like a primary drive on a Harley
I have no doubt that ATF works. My only question would be whether or not it meets H-D specs. If it doesn't, Magnuson-Moss Act or not, it would be justification for denying warranty coverage if anything ever went wrong in the primary.
yeah i just bought a qrt of the formula+ today 7.73 with the tax.i figured id change my primary fluid after hearing noise in the last 4k miles just too see how the fluid looked shavings etc.nothing but silver on the magnetic plug.so how long will the ipb make noise before toast?
I'm not an expert on this, but atf seems awful light. As mentioned earlier it may void warranty. Who suggested to you to use atf? It may work in the short run but down the road? If you weren't having troubles why change? Atf pours like water when it gets hot, hope you don't run into any problems.
I use Mobile One Synthetic ATF, milti-vehicle formula in my primary, same stuff I used in a TH-400 trans running high 8's in the 1/4 mile in a 70 nova. My bike clutch works perfectly, shifting is flawless just as it was in my car.
Do a web search on this subject and you'll find other forums where they are more tech minded.
I asked my dealer if they had any Atomic Timing Fluid and they were out of stock. Anybody know where I can git some of dat?
gota special order it out of russia,i use b&m trick shift when i
'm out of atomic timing fluid. little boy here on hdf named gary,he"s only 7,says b&m trickshift is a good primary lube.i tryed it and my clutch never worked better,no more 1st gear clunk and lot smoother clutch.
I don't see why someone would use such watery oil in a harley tranny. like the guy using lemon pledge to clean his bike....I'd be affraid of the eventual wax build -up which is why my moms had to strip the furniture after a while.....sheesh!
Aniti Tremmor Friction
if atf will hold up in a allison atomatic pulling a 1ton 4 wheel drive pulling 8000 lb camping trailers,i think it will hold up in your 62 h.p. 700 lb harley. p.s. it also go"s in the CHAIN driven transfer case.
