Default Dyna Springer conversion help

Ok, so I've been searching and came up with some pictures but not too much details. I want to do as close to a bolt on springer conversion on an 08 Street Bob. I was looking into buying the front end from Demons Cycles (only $380) but then I googled "Demons Cycles sucks" and got way too many hits. I want to do this myself to keep costs down but have never really tackled anything this in depth before.

Who makes good quality springer front ends that will bolt up on the stock frame. What do I need to do to make my stock wheel work (I do not care about the fender) and can I use my stock brakes? Other than that its just a matter of risers and bars and a bracket for my headlight right? My intent is to gather as much information from you all and then do an indepth How-to for those of us who are less experienced at moding our bikes.

There is a forum member who just springered his wide glide. Talk to him about it. Should be in the top 5 pages or so.

Id is Man4Mopar. He's got a sweet ride.

I've been looking at this as well. I called Paughco about their front ends and if you want a springer with a shock it is gonna have to be a Paughco or a HD unit. Good riding springers are not cheap. I was told by Paughco that they could make one that would allow me to use my stock brake calipers but the front wheel would have to be changed out with one of theirs. My local indy told me he could put a HD unit on and reuse my wheels/brakes for around $2k. Make sure you do lots of research and call the manufacturers you are wanting to use to make sure everything you are wanting to use is compatible. I was wanting to use Hogpro contrast cut wheels and Paughco told me that they would work. Lots of details to work out on this swap but it can be done. I'm between doing that or putting a high end front suspension on the front for a better ride. I am gonna think about it for a while until I make my mind up.

You get what you pay for. If it was me I would save till next year if I had to to get a good looking quality front end. The front end is the last place I would try to save a buck on and belive me I love to save a buck, besides those Demond cycle, DNA, and other cheaper front ends just don't look very high quality.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Here is the post of the install of the springer front. A lot of the info can assist you with your springer install.https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...-it-comes.html

If you want a springer with the least changes and keep a good amount of fork steer. I highly recomend a Paugcho or a stock HD springer front end. The top triple is narrow and will less likely hit the fuel tank. I pulled my fuel tank back almost a 1" to keep a good amount of fork steer.
You will also have to change to 3/4" bearings and spacers for your front wheels if you decide to use them. Last I researched no one made a 1" axle springer.
Oh and more then just paugcho or HD make springers with shocks. Mine has 2 shocks, one hidden in each set of coils.
There is more to answer then I wrote so if you have more questions feel free to ask away. Hope this info helps out though.

Later,

Josh

Lots of reasons, like they never made a dyna springer. When I was purchasing I already had plans to buy a springer or convert what I thought would look better with a springer to me. And to me the wideglide was the bike to spring. Has the external rear springs and now external front springs, which IMO goes together like peanut butter and chocolate.
From other posts Rounder I know you have a definitive way a Dyna should be. I respect and appreciate the vision and work involved for that goal. We just had different goals/visions is all. Enjoy the Memorial weekend man and ride and if we ever cross, first drink is on me.

Later,

Josh

I must agree with man4mopar. If I had a dyna, I would totally put a springer front end on it. The external front and back springs go well together for me.
