I too have an '06 SB and am 5' 7 1/2" tall. I had a problem with leaning forward with my butt sliding to the rear edge of the stock seat. Solved the problem with 3 adjustments. First, I bought a Mustang solo seat. Then, second, I tilted the mini apes back about 1" and turned the clutch and brake levers up about 1/2". Now I sit up straighter and reach less. No more back or tailbone pain. I can ride up to 3 hours before fatigue setting in. You just have to tweak the bike until it feels right.

I think I am going to start with forward controls to take care of my hip. Then I will reevaluate and see if the bars or the seat need to change.

Thanks guys. Over and out.

I was having some uncomfortable rides too on my FXDC. The stock seat was a disaster and a mustang wide solo/backrest helped a ton. Then getting rid of the mid controls made all the difference in the world, so much better and more comfortable for me. The fatigue on slower rides disappeared but on the freeway, it was still getting beat up by wind etc. A buddy let me borrow a windshield the other day and logged a 220 mile ride yesterday with a good part driving 65-70 and was the most enjoyable trip yet for me. No aches and pains or fatigue. I think it is just about finding the sweet spot on the combination of seat controls and posture as others have eluded to. We are all different and have different ergonomic needs. Good luck getting it figured out dont give up.
