Default Smart Move Today

Gotta be quick with my story, busy at work today.

Anyway, so I only got less than 5 hours of sleep last night, but I wanted to take the bike in to work because it's 80+ here today. So I take it in, and run an errand, feeling a little drousy, so I'm paying more attention as I know the risks.

So I go home for lunch and this gigantic motherf*cker in a lincoln towncar decides he does not need to stop at his stop sign in the rural area where I live. He finally sees me and slams on his brakes. If I had not seen him, he would have hit me. I left him stopped in the middle of the road, cut him off and yelled a few choice words (my wife was on the back).

So I get home, get off the bike and see that I left the bars straight, and smaked my foot into the back of the sissybar getting off.

So I say, "you know what, I'm too tired and I'm just not feeling it"

So I tell my wife we are taking the car back after lunch. So on the way back from lunch on I-70 the wind is picking up real bad in the foothills and out of no where it pushes my 5000 lbs FJ Cruiser half way into the other lane with a very strong gust.

Don't know what would have happened on the bike, but I am happy I'll never know.

Ride safe and get some sleep.

Good to know that you are okay and made the right decision after lunch. Next time if you ride and its windy, take a parachute.

Good call to not ride when you were not feeling 100%. Rule# 3.

After many years of riding my Dad has developed these riding rules:
1. Don't ride when it's wet
2. Don't ride when it's below 50 degrees out
3. Don't ride when you are not 100% mentally focused on the ride.
4. Don't ride if you have been drinking - even a little.
5. Always wear safety gear - helmet, gloves, and jacket at a minimum.

Ride safe.

Well I routinely violate 3-4 of those rules, but I do agree 100% on #3
