I guess not everyone knows their bikes as well as we do. Personally, a few years ago, I couldn't tell the difference, but for an owner not to know, that is a whole different issue:

HarleyDay59 says:

Hi guys, no discussions about that. It's a Fat Bob CVO model (custom bike directly from HD). I own a Fat Bob myself

..... if an owner can't tell the difference as soon as they look at the rear swingarm, or even just a cross section of it, then there is no excuse...

Just because it is a Dyna shouldn't make a difference. Anyone know?
Harley never makes it easy, but basically it goes like this:

FL=Touring front end, wide front tire.
FX=Naked or skinny front end

The exception being the Springer front end:

FL=Fat front tire
FX=Skinny front tire

Those rules will pretty much hold true.

I liked the part where he puts a link to a "Fat Bob" jpg and it shows a Rocker Softail!

That is my point. The Fat Bob has a fat front tire and it is an FX.
Seems to me it should be an FL.

My bet is it's a Fat Boy. The guy on there keeps saying it was on display at the bike show as a Fat Bob, but I bet he just misread the signs.

My only confusion is why call the fat bob a bob? I thought "Bob" was short for "Bobber" and the Fat Bob, while an awesome machine, I wouldn't call ti a Bobber by any scope of the imagination...

It's based around a Fat Bob tank! All the original Dynas used the Fat Bob tank with a speedo mounted.

It shares very little styling from the earlier Harley model, the Fat Bob FXEF.

Harley-Davidson FXEF Fat Bob 1979

That said, I LOVE the styling of the 2008 Fat Bob I have. Beautiful!
