When I spoke to Brian at Ricor about it that day, he said that based on production quality on the part of Showa makes forks inconsistently. Some are loose, some are tight. It makes sense but I agree, it didn't seem right. Even if I wanted to take them out, not sure how I'd do it. Not like they're going to fall out when I tip the fork over. Ricor was right. Once you install them you never see them again.
